Membership Criteria

To qualify for ASATA membership, ensure you meet these key criteria:

  • Your travel business is based in Southern Africa and has traded for at least one full financial year.
  • Your financial statements are up to date and meet the Companies Act 71 of 2008 requirements.
  • No owner, director, or manager has been insolvent in the past five years.
  • If not IATA-accredited, your ticketing agent is an ASATA member.
  • You agree to follow ASATA’s constitution, code of conduct, and industry guidelines.

Application Process

Please go through the required list below.

All applicants must complete the online application form available on the ASATA website and upload required documents.
If the applicant has multiple business entities in other locations, it must apply for membership for each of those business entities
A non-refundable application fee of R1 100.00 is payable at the time of application submission.
Applications are processed only after all documents are received and the non-refundable of R1 100.00 is paid.
Fully completed applications are reviewed by the board for membership consideration at the end of each month. Applicants will be notified of the outcome.
Successful applicant will receive and invoice to pay the annual membership fee as prescribed by the board. Payment must be made within 21 days to activate the membership.

Signed permission for ASATA to perform a criminal history and credit check on the company or close corporation and its shareholders, directors, members, the CEO, and managers.
Letters of good standing from two travel suppliers who are members of ASATA.
If the applicant is not an IATA accredited agent, the applicant must confirm who will issue tickets on the applicant’s behalf.
A valid Tax Clearance Certificate / Pin.
A current BBBEE certificate or EME/QSE affidavit.
CIPC registration document.
The most recent financial statements that meet the requirements set out in 3.9.

Annual Membership Fees

ASATA’s membership fees are reviewed annually

2025 Membership Fees: Travel MembersFee incl. VAT
Application fee (must accompany application form)R1 100.00
Membership fee per annumR12 335.00
Membership fee for travel agents will be determined by the number of Consultants of an applicant.
· A travel business with one (1) consultant shall pay 25% of the prescribed subscription fee
· A travel business with two (2) consultants shall pay 50% of the prescribed subscription fee
· A travel business with three or more consultants shall pay 100% of the subscription fee as determined annually by the Board.

Membership fee is valid for the period 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.

  • A member admitted between the first of April and the first of October must pay the full membership fee for the current year.
  • A member admitted after the first of October must pay half the annual membership fee.

Travel Member

This membership is for Travel Agents, Travel Advisors, Travel Management Companies and Tour Operators, whos core business is to sell travel experiences, including flights, accommodation, and tours, directly to individual travellers, businesses, or other travel professionals.
